Artful Blogger Party

Button Flowers:
Kari said easy and these are easy. I have been making these for years and have no idea where I first saw them. This is a great way to use all those odd buttons. They are a great project for kids. (Girl Scouts). And there isn't much clean up. I have tied them on gifts or here I just stuck them in a small vase. These sit on my kitchen table and never wilt. (Maybe a little dusty)
Start with a variety of buttons. Any size, shape of color.

I use unwrapped floral wire you don't want the wire to thick that it won't go through the button, but you want it strong enough that it will stand up.

Start by folding the wire in half and treading it through the button. Sliding the button all the way to the end of the wire. Here you can use a shank button. Add a couple of more buttons. Twist the wire a couple of times. Add the next set of buttons. Vary the size shape and color.

Keep adding buttons until you have the desired length you want. Usually about 3 sets per wire is a good length. When finished with all the stems, twist them all together lightly. Here I used all the same color. These would look so cute tied on a baby gift. Have fun with them and.

Look at that!!! I did something similar with a button from my Grand Mother. It was a shank with a spiderweb on it and I used black ribbon for petals. Love yours!!

Cute! It looks kind of Dr. Seuss-ish.

These are very whimsical. I made something similar one year for a fair entry when the theme was "Buttons and Bows" - it was a lot of fun to make button flowers. And like you said, no watering required - although it's a good way to dust them.
