Banner Day

My BFF from high school has a annual Luau every year. This year we are unable to attend. This is my potluck dish that I sent. My first banner. I think there will be more to come

A Girl can never have to many shoes

Aren't these shoes to die for? I just love the heals on the blue ones in the front. And check out the heals on the black ones. I know you are thinking wow this chick is one stylish babe. Well guess what? Unfortunately these aren't mine. Are you kidding my old feet wouldn't be caught dead in these. And I would be dead if I even tried to walk down the hall in them. No these are my 15 year old daughters newest finds. These will add to her collection of 30 or so pairs she already has.(that's just heals) Now you might think that isn't to many, but rembember she is only 15.She has a shoe fetish. This is a trait she has inherited from me and both of her grandmothers. Must be a girl thing. There was a time in my life when I would have worn these. And I might add, worn them all day. But age, weight, pregnancy and a lot of miles all have taken a toll on my tired old feet. Should I tell her she is going to ruin her feet and when she is my age she will be wearing (old lady shoes) as she calls them? No I say "go for it honey". Cause one day you will have old feet and then you can look back on your youth and say. "There was a day when I would have worn those ."
As for my shoes...................If they aren't comfortable the minute I put them on forget it. I no longer feel the need to buy them and break them in. So my shoes of choice. Good ole Birkenstocks. Love them, wear them year around. I live in the desert,so this is possible. And I may not have 30 pairs, but I have my share, even a pair of leopard print.

More Eye Candy

I'm having so much fun making these. Everything I look at I visualize on a cone. Does that mean I obsessed? My family is starting to make fun of me. "Gee mom, you could put that on a cone." This last batch have all gone to friends. At least I share...........................

Eye Candy Sentiment Cones

I have had so much fun making these. Vintage lace, buttons, altered flowers, other goodies I found. I'm hoping to get a few of these on Etsy. So please check back. Here is a trick if you need to elevate something. Use different size candle holders and just turn them over. The bottom makes a great base to display things

One day I was considering all the words that mean place of residence. This is what I came up with. There were so many more that I ran out of room. How many more can you come up with. The most important being home.

Artful Blogger Party

Button Flowers:
Kari said easy and these are easy. I have been making these for years and have no idea where I first saw them. This is a great way to use all those odd buttons. They are a great project for kids. (Girl Scouts). And there isn't much clean up. I have tied them on gifts or here I just stuck them in a small vase. These sit on my kitchen table and never wilt. (Maybe a little dusty)
Start with a variety of buttons. Any size, shape of color.

I use unwrapped floral wire you don't want the wire to thick that it won't go through the button, but you want it strong enough that it will stand up.

Start by folding the wire in half and treading it through the button. Sliding the button all the way to the end of the wire. Here you can use a shank button. Add a couple of more buttons. Twist the wire a couple of times. Add the next set of buttons. Vary the size shape and color.

Keep adding buttons until you have the desired length you want. Usually about 3 sets per wire is a good length. When finished with all the stems, twist them all together lightly. Here I used all the same color. These would look so cute tied on a baby gift. Have fun with them and.

Hooray they are both home

I'm so happy both of my kids are home. They were both gone all summer. Boy child, was on tour of the US with his band. Girl child was in Japan, being a supermodel. Now they are back and back to school. Back to having to tell mom and dad where they are going, who they are going with. Having to have a curfew. Oh life is tough when you are still a teenager and living at home. They both got to spread their wings, but now those wings are being clipped some. Right now I'm just one happy mom.

Another House

My dear friend Tracey's son was leaving for college. This was her gift from me. Fabric vintage lace, buttons and paper. All sewn down then stretched over a frame.

The picture is not that great. I need to work on my picture taking skills:)

A little birdie told me

Every so often I do a traditional quilt. Well, my version of a traditional quilt. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for those that can spend hours even weeks on a large and complex quilt. I can't do it. I get bored. I'm all about instant gratification. This was quick and fun. Although don't look to close, you just might find mistakes.
