Comfort Dolls

Pat has a started a project for battered women. When a women enters a shelter she is given a doll with a message of hope. She can carry this doll with her as a reminder that there is love out in the world. Right out of high school I had a boyfriend who thought it was great fun to knock me around. What a fool I was. This was in the early 70's and he was drafted into the Army. At the time I was sad he was leaving, but looking back I now see how lucky I was to be free from him. This project is my way of reaching out to someone I will never meet, and letting them know there is hope. If you or someone you know is in this situation please encourage them to get the help they need. It is so important to teach our daughter to be strong and confident, and to teach our sons that this type of behavior is very wrong. Please visit Pat's site.

Last week I was selected for jury duty. This was the first time I have ever served. I have to tell you it was very interesting. I actually enjoyed it. Oh, I know what you are saying. I don't have time. I can't take time off work, I can't afford it, I don't have child care.Let me tell you I have used every excuse I could to get out of it in the past. This time though, I was hoping to be selected. To be part of the judicial process from start to finish was a great learning experience. To serve on a jury is one of those top 100 thing you should do in your life.

Your dolls are beautiful! I've never been sent "that letter" for jury duty, but I think it would be quite the learning experience! Take care.

What a beautiful thing you are doing, but then again, you are a beautiful gal! : ) As for Jury Duty...the one time I was involved, I got into a "slight" argument with the lawyer, got called before the judge and asked to leave. LOL. So much for my duty. LOL. Glad you enjoyed your end of it and sorry you did not get picked.
