When I purchased all the hardware at the flea market (read previous post). I had some idea's what I was going to do with some of it. The always awesome Rebecca Sower, has starting a series of sessions titled Handmade from Home. Her idea is to make things using what you have around the house. Well wouldn't you know the first session she did a wind chime using keys and a faceplate. Well, duh! Why didn't I think of that? So I put off the laundry and unloading the dishwasher. Ran right into "my space" and started creating. I had bought a bag full of bells at the thrift shop and used one of them along with an old necklace. Mine will hang in the house ,so I added some vintage lace and ribbon flower Hopefully that little bell with scare off the dust bunnies. Okay, I have played long enough, back to work

Armed with $25.00. I have to set a limit, cause I have been know to go crazy. My friend Tracey by my side and coffee. We set off to do some damage at our little flea market. It comparison to flea markets around the country, it is small. No, not small, tiny. If I do say so myself I didn't do to bad. See below.
But the highlight of my day was getting to meet Miaja. I recognized her from her blog picture. We have chatted online , but never met in person. So I boldly introduced myself. She is so delightful and I'm so happy to have have met in person.
When I got home from the flea market this had come in the mail. I was one of the winners from Lani's giveaway. If you have never visited her site. It is a must see. Her work is beautiful. I'm now the proud owner of one of those wonderful pieces. I couldn't seem to get a shot of this without a glare. Do go to her site. Her pictures are better.

New Banner
Yesterday I spent the afternoon with Mike. We worked on creating a new banner. I'm pleased with the way it turned out. I'm not so sure I could recreate it, or another one. Cause at one point my brain checked out and I just let Mike do his thing. Everything I have learned about blogging has been self taught. Or Mike has helped me. I feel my creativity is being blocked. I know what I want to do, but not sure sometimes how to achieve that end result. I really suck at photo shop. That should be my next class.
The above beeswax collage I used in the banner. The little tussie mussie on the door I used the grunge board. I'm loving that stuff. The tiny butterfly was dipped in wax. It then becomes very easy to mold. Click on the picture and it will enlarge for better details.
The butterflies in the above are done the same way. Her face is shrink plastic. Lace was then wrapped around an old paint brush. Since trying my hand at altered art, I have found that I look at everything differently. Things that I used to throw away I now save. Just what I need more junk. Guess you could say I'm doing "Green Art."

New Banner
On Polly's blog she offers free banners. After taking a mini blog class last night with Mike at Mystic Paper. I came home very inspired to tweak my blog. I played around with it until 2am. I was moaning when that darn alarm went of this morning at 6am. I could sure use a nap right about now. Next week Mike is going to show us how to do more. So check back and see if I can get real creative. I met Tanya in the class. Check out her blog. She does beautiful cross stitch samplers.

Daughter's Prom night
We will start with the shoes. 4 inch pink patten leather. She is 5'9" her date was 6'5". She is thrilled anytime she can wear heals around guys. They gave her blisters, but she kept them on the whole night.
Short black sequined dress. Vintage black patten leather clutch. It had been my moms
Finally the cute couple. I never went to the prom. I wasn't allowed. Very strict father. So I have to admit I live vicariously through her at times. I was rather surprised this was the dress she picked out. I had thought she would have gone with a formal. But, as she put it I will be the only one there in a dress like this. And she was.
On a side note. I didn't realize her eyes were red until I enlarged the pics. oops
