Thought I would post the 3 projects that were pictured in Somerset Studio. All 3 I have used foam board and a rust application
Tomorrow I'm leaving for Calif. to go check on my sweet little mama. She is having cataracts removed. Even though it is supposed to be a very simple operation, I feel I need to be there.

My Maiden Voyage
Have you gotten your new issue of Somerset Studio? You better rush right out and get it cause...here's the part you hear screaming and jumping for joy..........I'm in it. Yippee . My first time.
The talented Carlene is also in the same issue. Sooooooooooo off we went over to Mystic Paper to have Jennifer take our pic together. I know, kinda lame.Mike came in while we were there. He is always fun. We drug him into our photo session.
Remember me showing you this fugly thing? It was the apron we were given to alter. This is my finished product. The bib, center panel and waist band are from the original apron. I ditched the ruffle. To see all the aprons go to here and place your bid.

Earth Day
Sunday, April 19, 2009
My day started with taking this class with the talented Lisa, at Mystic Paper. I didn't finish the class and left in the middle of it. I had so much going on in my head that I just couldn't wrap my mind around doing all the tags. I always feel very "tag challenged" and things were just not clicking. I need to come home spread everything out and really focus. That is what I did and I'm okay with the way it turned out. This is one of those projects I can keep adding to or taking away from. It is hard to see the dress form, but it is wire. I still have not overcome my tag phobia. We all have our hang ups......
Part of my lack of focus was brought on by daughter.......................................
Last night was Prom. She was freaking out that I would not be back to roll her hair. And in the middle of the class I remembered I had told them I would do the flowers. Oops menopause brain on overload.
Daughter being the one who has to have her own style and hates to dress like everyone else. (I like that part about her and always have encouraged it) Decided she was going to wear vintage cowboy boots with her Jessica McClintock dress. Her dad was questioning the look until he saw her. As she said I totally rocked it.
After they left, and a couple glasses wine later, I finished up the new member of the bird family. Yes I sewed the paper onto the wire wings. Did that before the wine. After I took the class with Tim Holtz I had been wanted to make another bird. A wooden bird is needed for this (you have to drill into the bird to attached the hardware) and they are hard to find, unless you are into sandpipers and gulls. Walked into TJ Maxx the other day and there he was. Only 7 bucks. Paint and hardware later he fits right in with his new friend.
Have a great week............

This is a piece I purchased from Marsha. Her work is amazing. Please stop by and say hi to her.
Wanted to share with you a couple of dolls I have been working on. The key for her leg is the result of a poor job of amputation. Happy mistakes.

Nice and quiet
We had a very nice quiet weekend. Saturday we woke up to rain. Yes RAIN!!!!!!!!!!! Rain is always a good thing in the desert. Last weekend we spent painting daughter's room and rearranging my studio. Hubby built me two table tops. I was going to paint the walls and redo the floor. But.........that would have meant I would have had to completely unload the room. I was happy just to get the table tops and get everything organized. It now feels like a new room. More than 1 person can fit in there. Daughter even hung out with me in there yesterday. With all the crap on the walls you can't tell the paint needs to be touched up.
Before shot of my mess
After. It may not look like a big difference but there is.
The other side of the room after.
Daughter's room after. The really cool graphics and chandelier are from IKEA
The walls are a light gray. Her drapes are a dark purple. There is Monkey. He is missing an eye, but he is well loved. Monkey has traveled all over the world. He will be spending the summer in CA. She has signed with an agency there and will leave the end of next month.

Swap time
Judy and I did a little swap. She painted me this beautiful picture of red tulips. I love it Judy! Judy and I met at Mystic Paper. We have taken classes together. She is a collector of angels. So of course I made her an angel. The hankie, lace and wings were dipped in coffee. A small waxed butterfly rest on her head.
Paper flower on the back of her head was dipped in coffee and then in wax. Lace was added to back of wings. I hope you enjoy her Judy. She was fun to make.
